Conversing with a Crab

$6.00

This image is called Conversing with a Crab! It’s part of my Green Girl images done in collaboration with poet Mary Jo Amani for her book Green Girl Weaving. It goes with the following poem:

On a Deserted Beach

“But what of the eternal waves,” I say,

standing in the shadow of an approaching storm.

“They come in un-patterned intervals, spewing forth

trash—bits of plastic, rusty bottle caps, remnants

of fishing nets, dream syringes half full of mystery, and look,

a rubber Pinocchio doll worn into spongy softness. Nothing lasts.”

Green girl stoops, reaches into the litter.

She opens the pincer of a grasping crab,

rescues a three-legged grasshopper from its clasp.

The card will come with the poem it is based on printed on the back, and will be blank inside waiting for your message.
