This image is called It Bounces! It’s part of my Green Girl images done in collaboration with poet Mary Jo Amani for her book Green Girl Weaving. It goes with the following poem:
Heart
I can no longer look
at young children, turn away.
“I failed,” I mumble.
“I was a bad mother.”
Green girl takes a magnifying glass
from her pocket, examines
my heart under
the sun’s exacting glare.
“It’s good,” green girl says.
“But I’m afraid to move,” I say.
Green girl picks up my heart
and drops it against the ground.
“Oh, soft, merciful belly,” she exclaims.
“Look, it bounces!”
The card will come with the poem it is based on printed on the back, and will be blank inside waiting for your message.
