I Loved Loved Loved Him!

$6.00

This image is called I Loved Loved Loved Him! It’s part of my Green Girl images done in collaboration with poet Mary Jo Amani for her book Green Girl Weaving. It goes with the following poem:

Unkindness

Who called him into the ground?

“Come, it’s time, come now.”

Who named that flock of ravens

condemning me with their guttural kraa?

What happened to the wind?

The willow’s limbs hang askew,

the flowering pear bears nothing.

I loved, loved, loved him. Listen—

under the goldenrod on the hill

where we buried his ashes,

death claws dark and small.

I feel like this image illustrates how grief is about the love we have for its object. To love is to be vulnerable to the potential loss.

The card will come with the poem it is based on printed on the back, and will be blank inside waiting for your message.
