This image has a story I didn’t plan on. For my birthday in 2024, I took myself on a drawing trip to the top of Mt. Mitchell and then came down the headwaters of the South Toe River into Micaville. A little over a month later, Helene came through and changed Western North Carolina forever. I don’t know when I will get back there, but I do know it will be changed while also being the same.
